Jawline Contouring

Jawline contouring can achieve a more attractive and chiseled facial appearance. Recently, more attention is being placed on the jawline as a distinct feature of attractiveness. In some cases jawline contouring can actually rejuvenate your lower face, in other cases it can help contour your profile, and in men delivers an attractive chiseled transition between your face and your neck.

In most cases, dermal fillers based on hyaluronic acid such as Juvederm, Voluma, Volux, Restylene are used to sharpen the angles and lines of your jawline. In other cases surgery may be recommended to place jaw implants, this is mostly recommended when the sides of the jawline are narrow.

Dermal fillers are becoming increasingly popular as a cosmetic procedure. These non-surgical treatments can enhance facial features and contour areas of the face. They are commonly used to sharpen the jawline, contour the chin, add volume to the cheeks, and contour the lips.

It is important to be aware of the potential risks and side effects associated with these injections. While dermal fillers are generally considered safe, there are some possible risks to consider. One common side effect is bruising at the injection site, which can last for several days. In rare cases, more serious complications can occur, such as infection, scarring, or allergic reactions. It is also possible for the filler to migrate to other areas of the face, leading to asymmetry or lumpiness, or areas feeling indurated. There is also a rare, but serious, risk of vascular occlusion, where the filler blocks a blood vessel and can cause tissue damage. Only trained professionals should inject fillers for these reasons.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used to sharpen the jawline appearance, the results can be seen immediately. There is some swelling after that for some days or weeks which subsequently subsides.

Jawline contouring can be performed on individuals with a weak chin to improve the shape of the chin. Keep in mind that if the bone is very set back, chin implant surgery or a chin bone surgery may be recommended, especially if the chin needs to be moved forward. Fillers are great to enhance the shape of the chin, but in cases where the chin needs to be moved forward, surgery may be recommended by Dr. Gonzalez.

Jawline contouring when done with hyaluronic acid dermal fillers will provide results that last from 12 to 18 months. When surgery is done to contour or widen the jaw and chin, these results may be long lasting.

Every case is different and in some individuals it may make it less evident. A double chin is best improved with surgery such as liposuction of the neck or a neck lift or a submentoplasty surgery. Dr. Gonzalez will determine what you are a candidate for during a consultation and by learning the goals you would like to achieve.
